NewTechnology- 980nm Laser Nail Fungus Treatment
Laser therapy is the newest treatment we offer for fungal toenails and improves the appearance of the nails in many patients. The
nail fungus laser machine works by penetrating the nail plate and destroys the fungus under the nail. There is no pain and no side effects. Best results and the best looking toenails occur with three laser sessions and the use of specific protocol.
Compared traditional methods, laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive means to clear nail fungus and it is gaining popularity.
1.How does Laser Nail Fungus Treatment Work?
The laser wavelength is absorbed though the nail, and kills the underlying fungus by exposing it to heat and light. Once the fungus is destroyed in both the nail and nail bed, the tissue is revitalized to encourage new, clear, and healthy nail growth.
2.Is the laser treatment painful?
Most patients report little to no discomfort during the treatment. A mild warming sensation or rubber band snapping sensation may be experienced during the laser nail treatment. No discomfort has been reported following treatment and there is no down time following treatment. Regular activities may be resumed immediately following your appointment.

.Are there any contraindications to having laser nail treatment?
Although considered safe for most people, laser treatment is contraindicated in pregnancy, in disorders that cause loss of sensation in extremities (neuropathy), sunburned skin, scleroderma, those people with previous skin cancers on the feet or hands, people who have used accutane in the last 12 months, anyone who has had a major skin disease or anyone who has experienced problems with previous laser treatments. Please discuss any skin abnormality or disorder with our Physicians prior to treatment. Additionally, our physicians only treat individuals over 16 years of age.
4.
How long does the laser treatment take?
Appointment times are scheduled for 10-20 minutes. This includes treatment, consultation with physician and instructions for post treatment care to prevent future re-infection.
Nail fungus and Podiatry:
Podiatry Laser Therapy in podiatry pushes the boundaries of biology, physics and technology. From inception, GIGAA have specifically focused on the convergence and integration of laser technologies for toenail fungus, plantar fasciitis/fasciosis, neuropathies, wart removal and wounds. We have invested in the very best technology as a key component of our continuing quest to offer you the finest in health care.
Biological effects of the laser are:
1.Reduced Fibrous (Scar) Tissue Formation
2.Anti-Inflammation Anti-Pain (Analgesia)
3.Improved Vascular Activity
4.Increased Metabolic Activity
5.Improved Nerve Function
6.Immunoregulation
7.Trigger Point Resolution and Acupuncture Pt. Stimulation
Main applications
Podiatry Laser Surgery has been successfully used in the fields of ophthalmology, dermatology, and gynecology, and now is being used in the treatment of various foot problems which require removal of diseased or damaged tissues. In many cases the scalpel is now being discarded in favor of a ray of the laser beam. A laser beam of light is pinpointed on the troubled areas and in seconds (in some cases microseconds) the tissue is eliminated. The laser vaporizes the faulty cells and at the same time sterilizes the adjacent tissue. Scarring is minimal because the laser's precise control limits the damage to surrounding tissues.
Incision, excision, vaporization of soft tissues including:
1.Matrixectomy Warts including periungual, subungual, and plantar warts
2.Radical nail excision
3.Neuromas
Laser System is indicated for use for the temporary increase of clear nail in patients with onychomycosis (e.g., dermatophytes Trychophyton rubrum and T. mentagrophytes, and/or yeasts Candida albicans, etc.)
