The Optimal Energy - 1470nm
As a water-specific laser, the VeinCure 1470 laser targets water as the chromophore to absorb the laser energy. Since vein structure is mostly water, it's theorized that the 1470 nm laser wavelength efficiently heats endothelial cells with a low risk of collateral damage, resulting in an optimal vein ablation.

The 1470nm laser energy is preferentially  absorbed in the intracellular water of the vein wall and in the water content of blood.The irreversible photo-thermal process induced by the laser energy results in a complete occlusion of the treated vein. The lower energy level needed using the radial laser fiber significantly minimized adverse effects compared with the bare laser fiber.
 
Laser interaction with tissue depends on the wavelength of choice. The Laseev laser comes in 2 versions - the 980nm and the 1470 nm.
1.The 980nm laser with equal absorption in water and blood, offers a robust all-purpose surgical tool, and at 30Watts of output, a high power source for endovascular work. 2.The 1470nm laser with significantly higher absorption in water, provides a superior precision instrument for reduced collateral thermal damage around venous structures.Accordingly, it is highly recommended for endovascular work.

EVLT (Endovenous Laser Treatment) is a procedure leading to occlusion of varicose veins. It involves putting a optic into a saphenous vein through a catheter. Then the laser is turned on and slowly withdrawed from the vein. Thanks to light-tissue interaction mainly thermal  occur, the tissue is heated and the walls of the vein shrink, because of alteration of endothelium and contraction of collagen. There are two possibilities of performing the treatment: with pulsed and continuous-wave laser operation. Using the pulsed operation also the is withdrawed step by step. A better choice is to use continuous-wave laser and to withdraw the  also continuously, what provides more homogenous illumination of the vein, less tissue damaged outside the vein and better results. 1. What is the procedure of the EVLT operation?
After your scan your leg will be cleaned before a tiny amount of anaesthetic is applied (using super fine needles). A catherer is inserted into the vein and the Endovenous Laser fibre is inserted. After this a cool anaesthetic is then applied around your vein to protect surrounding tissues. You will then be required to wear goggles before the laser machine is switched on. During the procedure the laser will be pulled back to seal the faulty vein. Rarely will patients experience any discomfort when the laser is being used. After the procedure you will be required to wear stockings for 5-7 days and walk half an hour a day. Long distance travel is not permitted for 4 weeks. Your leg may feel numb for six hours after the procedure. A follow-up appointment is required for all patients. At this appointment further treatment may occur with ultrasound guided sclerotherapy.
