In proctology, lasers 980nm and 1470nm are commonly used for the precise excision or vaporization of the hemorrhoids, fistula, fissure and pilonidal sinus.
------LHP® (Laser Hemorrhoido Plasty) - for hemorrhoids
LHP® is used for the gentle therapy of advanced hemorrhoids of 3rd or 4th degree under appropriate anesthesia and enables the endoluminal laser coagulation of both segmental and circular hemorrhoidal nodes. As the energy of the laser is inserted centrally into the hemorrhoidal node, the hemorrhoid can be treated according to its size without causing any damage to the anoderm or mucosa. No foreign materials (clamps) are needed, and LHP® is not associated with any risk of stenosis. Healing is excellent because, unlike conventional surgeries, there are no incisions or stitches.
------FiLaC® (Fistula-tract Laser Closure) - for anal fistulas
In order to eliminate the fistula tract as gently as possible, the flexible, radially emitting laser fiber is inserted from the outside and positioned exactly by using the pilot beam. Defined energy is being emitted into the fistula . The epithelialized tissue is being destroyed in a controlled way and the fistula tract collapses to a very high degree. Why 980nm +1470nm dual lasers?
1)The 980 nm wavelength of the laser provides the highest combined absorption in water and hemoglobin,thus postulating a high ablation capacity as well as good hemostasis.
2)The 1470 nm wave is absorbed by the water intracellular water of the tissue and in the water content.
980nm+1470nm implements two separate wavelengths: a 1470nm laser wavelength which specifically targets water in hemorrhoidal and fistula tissue as well as a 980nm laser wavelength targeting oxyhemoglobin in the hemorrhoidal supplying arteries. This allows for optimal ablation and coagulation of the specific treatment area using a low power energy intensity for safe treatment with minimal risk of burns. The ability to choose the appropriate wavelength for the application provide physicians the best solution and flexibility.
A laser hemorrhoid plastic surgery involves the introduction of a fiber, into the cavity of the hemorrhoid plexus and its obliteration with a light beam at the wavelength of 1470 nm. The submucosal emission of light causes shrinkage of the hemorrhoid mass, the connective tissue renews itself - the mucosa is adhered to the underlying tissues thereby eliminating the risk of the nodule prolapse.
