Laser hemorrhoidoplasty is considered a minimally invasive procedure for hemorrhoid treatment.
The procedure allows the patient to achieve the best possible outcomes with minimal discomfort, rapid recovery. The patient will return to daily routine quicker with a good quality of life.
Laser hemorrhoidoplasty is a relatively new procedure for hemorrhoid treatment in which the hemorrhoidal blood flow is coagulated by the laser. Prior to procedure, patients need to be anesthetized by the anesthesiologist. Subsequently, the procedure will be conducted by the coloproctologist / colorectal surgeon, the laser probe will be inserted into the hemorrhoids. Due to an intense amount of heat, the laser beam cauterizes and seals off the blood vessels, therefore the hemorrhoid will simply shrink while reducing the risk of excessive bleeding during and after the procedure. Since laser hemorrhoidoplasty is a
precise procedure, it leaves no effect to the surrounding tissues as well as the anal sphincters.

The laser hemorrhoid ablation technique, otherwise known as laser hemorrhoidoplasty or laser obliteration, is well-established in the treatment of hemorrhoidal diseases II, III and IV grades by laser hemorrhoidal obliteration.

How it works?
A laser hemorrhoid plastic surgery involves the introduction of a fiber, into the cavity of the hemorrhoid plexus and its obliteration with a light beam at the wavelength of 1470 nm. The submucosal emission of light causes shrinkage of the hemorrhoid mass, the connective tissue renews itself - the mucosa is adhered to the underlying tissues thereby eliminating the risk of the nodule prolapse. The treatment leads to the reconstruction of collagen and restores the natural anatomical structure. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia or light sedation.
There are many options to get rid of painful piles. Surgery is the most effective one, especially when someone has reached an advanced stage. If you are not getting relief from the conservative treatment options, you can consider getting laser treatment for piles.
List of reasons why people prefer undergoing laser treatment of piles includes:
Less Painful and Much Safer
Laser treatment is one of the least painful surgical treatments for piles. Formerly, piles surgery was fright due to the amount of pain caused. However, Laser surgery does not create any type of sparks, steam, or smoke. This makes the surgery safe.
Less Bleeding
Less bleeding is another great advantage of laser surgery. The laser hemorrhoids surgery helps in minimizing the amount of blood flow by blocking the blood vessels and tissues. This surgery does not affect the tissues around the hemorrhoid in any way. The advantage of minimum bleeding makes laser treatment a good option to cure piles.
Quick Treatment
Another pros of laser treatment for piles is that the duration of laser surgical treatment is very less. In most cases, the surgery takes about 45 minutes to complete. Some alternative methods might take the duration between a few days to a few weeks to completely heal. This makes laser surgery a better choice. The procedure used by the laser surgeon for the healing process can differ from person to person and case to case.
Quick Discharge
Doubtlessly, staying in the hospital for too long is not an enjoyable experience. The patient who goes through laser hemorrhoids surgery need not have to stay at the hospital for the whole day. In many cases, the patient is discharged within an hour after the completion of the surgery. This minimizes the cost of staying overnight at the hospital too.
Quick Healing
Patients can proceed with their regular routine with a minimum of two days of rest. Though a patient is allowed to get back home within an hour after the surgery, resting for a little time is required for complete healing of the surgery. Anyhow, the duration required for the healing process is way far lesser. One is free to get back to his/her normal routine by just resting for a couple of days.
Easy to Conduct
Carrying laser surgery is way easier than conducting regular surgery. This is because the surgeon has much more control over the procedure. The amount of effort that the surgeon needs to put in the laser hemorrhoids surgery is a lot lesser.
Cons of Laser Treatment for Piles
Mainly, everything has its own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, in the case of laser treatment for piles, there are a few disadvantages as well.
Unlike other methods, hemorrhoidoplasty does not require any foreign materials, e.g. rubber bands, staples, threads. It does not require any incisions and sewing. There is no risk of stenosis. The surgery and recovery time is shortened. Patients are not at risk of post-operative pain and can quickly return to their normal activities.
• No sutures
• No foreign materials
• No wounds or bleeding
• No pain
Why is it worth it?
The use of the laser ablation technique is more comfortable both for the patient and the doctor.
One of the greatest advantages of minimally invasive laser treatments is that they can lessen recovery times and reduce the accompanying pain.
In one study, patients with level 2 and level 3 hemorrhoids received treatment in which a laser was inserted into the affected tissue to irradiate it from within. During the 28 days of observation afterward, the patients reported an average pain level of only 0.84 to 1.13 on a scale of 0 to 10.
Another study examined complications after procedures to vaporize hemorrhoidal tissue with direct-contact diode lasers. Of the 341 qualifying patients, only 12 experienced serious complications during the following year. That amounted to only 3.51 percent of the test group.
Why is 980nm 1470nm?
Laseev, emits energy at the wavelength of 980nm+1470 nm. The wavelength has a high degree of water absorption in the tissue with simultaneous effects on blood. The bio-physical property of the wave used in the Laseev laser means that the ablation zone is shallow and controlled, and therefore there is no risk of damage to adjacent tissues (e.g. sphincter). Additionally, 980nm wavelength has a very good effect on blood (no risk of bleeding). These features make the Laseev laser a safer and cheaper alternative to near-infrared lasers (810nm-980nm, Nd: YAG 1064nm) and far-infrared laser (CO2 10600nm).
If hemorrhoidectomy is necessary, a closed excision performed with a laser may ease the recovery compared to an open excision with a traditional scalpel.
When the wound is left open after surgery, there doesn't seem to be much difference in healing time between excision with a scalpel or a laser. However, lasers offer the opportunity to seal the mucosa closed after removing the hemorrhoidal tissue. Performing the surgery this way can improve the recovery period.
This approach to surgery typically requires only local anesthetic, so patients don't have to wake up from general anesthesia after the operation. Therefore, they're usually able to leave the surgery center in about two hours.
Furthermore, research has shown that patients experience less pain after this laser procedure than they do with standard cold scalpel hemorrhoidectomies. Of the 60 laser patients observed in one study, only four required readmittance to the hospital for serious pain or swelling.
