Fungal nail disease
Fungal nail disease affects up to 14 per cent of adults. It's caused by a fungus that feeds on keratin, a protein in your nails. The fungus likes moist places such as showers and locker rooms. If you think you have nail fungus, you can look out for a few signs.
Thick or distorted nails - your nails, or part of your nails might start to thicken.
Brown, white or yellow spots or streaks either in the skin under the nail or in the nail itself.
Pain - you might find it difficult to walk and your nails might separate from their nail bed.
Brittle or ragged nails.
Chalky, dull or powdery nails.
Nails crumbling at the outside edges.

Optimal Wavelength for choice
1064nm: The 1064nm nail fungus laser allows deeper penetration into tissues and reduces the risk of pigmentation changes, without damaging the surrounding tissues. Due to the increased interaction of molecules with the laser, heat is distributed more evenly.
980nm: The absorption efficiency of water is relatively high at 980nm. Convert light energy into heat. Deep tissue layers are transformed into localized hot spots, creating temperature gradients at the cellular level. They also promote local microcirculation and accelerate metabolism due to the increased oxygen supply to the cells.
Why choose laser therapy?
Laser energy offers many advantages over traditional therapies for onychomycosis. Treatments are less frequent and they are given in the physician's office, avoiding compliance issues with topical and oral therapies.
What is the treatment?
1. We slowly trace a laser beam across the infected nail for several minutes. We cover the entire nail in a close cross-hatch pattern.
2. The laser beam generates heat in the nail and in the fungal colony. Your nail will feel warm but this feeling quickly fades.
3. The procedure is safe and you won't need anaesthestics.
4. It's free of any side effects and harmless to your nail and the surrounding skin.
5. You can wear your shoes and socks immediately after the procedure.
Methods and Parameters
The treatment outcome can be reached by a single or double session, but it depends on the severity of the fungal infection. The outcome, the growth of new clear nail structures is therefore not immediately visible. Nevertheless, in about 6 - 8 weeks after the initial treatment the first new formed clear nail structures are discernible. If this is not the case, an additional treatment could be implemented. A 3rd treatment (ca. 6 - 8 weeks after the 2nd treatment) could be necessary if the fungal infection is very definitive. The ultimate result should be visible in 9 month till one year.
Applications of Podiatry laser :
Onychomycosis
Plantar warts
Vascular Lesions
Intractable Plantar Keratosis
Minor soft tissues surgery(cut, coagulation and vaporization)
Podiatric postoperative of hallux-valgus and finger trigger
Plantar Fascitis
Tendinitis Aquileia
Metatarsalgia and hallux-valgus
Laser treatment of onychomycosis
This treatment uses the principle of selective photothermolysis, defined as the precise targeting of tissue using 980nm wavelength of light. Laser is absorbed into the target area and heat generated by that energy is sufficient to damage the target area while sparing the surrounding area. The aim is to heat the nail bed to temperatures required to disrupt fungal growth and avoid pain and necrosis to surrounding tissues meanwhile.
Laser treatment of Plantar warts
The way of wart treatment is based on photodermal or photomechanical destruction of the target tissue. Target structures absorb coherent monochrome light of 980nm wavelength and fluence. Laser is converted into heat energy, thus destroying the structure of the warts. Depending on the pulse duration and energy density, this may result in coagulation or blasting of these structures.
Advantages of our laser therapy:
-Effective, painless
- Without side effects
- No anesthesia is used before or during treatment.
-No medicine necessary
-Safe procedure
- No visible damage to the treated nail or the surrounding skin
- Precise procedure
- Reduce risks of post procedure infections
- Faster healing
-Good coagulation results
- Decrease the recurrent rate
- Accelerate tissue repair and cell growth
