EVLT is a new method of treating varicose veins without  surgery. Instead of tying and removing the abnormal veins,  they are heated by a laser. The heat kills the walls of the  veins and the body then naturally absorbs the dead tissue  and the abnormal veins are destroyed. The Optimal Energy - 1470nm
As a water-specific laser, the VeinCure 1470 laser targets water as the chromophore to absorb the laser energy. Since vein structure is mostly water, it's theorized that the 1470 nm laser wavelength efficiently heats endothelial cells with a low risk of collateral damage, resulting in an optimal vein ablation.

The 1470nm laser energy is preferentially  absorbed in the intracellular water of the vein wall and in the water content of blood.The irreversible photo-thermal process induced by the laser energy results in a complete occlusion of the treated vein. The lower energy level needed using the radial laser fiber significantly minimized adverse effects compared with the bare laser fiber.

EVLT (Endovenous Laser Treatment) is a procedure leading to occlusion of varicose veins. It involves putting a optic into a saphenous vein through a catheter. Then the laser is turned on and slowly withdrawed from the vein. Thanks to light-tissue interaction mainly thermal  occur, the tissue is heated and the walls of the vein shrink, because of alteration of endothelium and contraction of collagen. There are two possibilities of performing the treatment: with pulsed and continuous-wave laser operation. Using the pulsed operation also the is withdrawed step by step. A better choice is to use continuous-wave laser and to withdraw the  also continuously, what provides more homogenous illumination of the vein, less tissue damaged outside the vein and better results. The therapy is just a beginning of the occlusion process. After the treatment the veins are shrinking for several days or weeks. That is why in the long period observation very good results are obtained. The main advantage of EVLT is that it is a non-invasive technique 
in contrast to surgical treatments. It also does not involve hospital stay and can be performed in an ambulatory conditions with local anesthesia and lasts for less than 1 hour. After the procedure patient does not have any unsightly incisions and scars. 
 

During the EVLA procedure, the surgeon uses ultrasound to find the vein to be treated. The veins that can be treated are the main venous trunks of the legs:
Great Saphenous Vein (GSV)
Small Saphenous Vein (SSV)
Their major tributaries such as the Anterior Accessory Saphenous Veins (AASV)

Endovenous Laser Ablation Treatment, also known as laser therapy, is a safe, proven medical procedure that not only treats the symptoms of varicose veins.

Endovenous means inside the vein, a small amount of local anaesthetic is injected into the skin over the vein and a needle inserted into it. A wire is passed through the needle and up the vein. The needle is removed and a catheter is passed over the wire, up the vein and the wire removed. A laser fiber is passed up the catheter so its tip lies at the highest point to be heated (usually your groin crease). A large quantity of local anaesthetic solution is then injected around the vein through multiple tiny needle pricks. The laser is then fired up and pulled down the vein over to heat the lining within the vein, damaging it and causing it to collapse, shrink, and eventually disappear.

1. What is the procedure of the EVLT operation?

After your scan your leg will be cleaned before a tiny amount of anaesthetic is applied (using super fine needles).A catherer is inserted into the vein and the Endovenous Laser fibre is inserted.After this a cool anaesthetic is then applied around your vein to protect surrounding tissues.You will then be required to wear goggles before the laser machine is switched on.During the procedure the laser will be pulled back to seal the faulty vein.  Rarely will patients experience any discomfort when the laser is being used.

2.Is EVLT procedure painful? 

Some patients may experience temporary soreness or some slight swelling,  which can be treated effectively with over-the-counter, non-aspirin pain relievers and typically subsides within the first five days. The procedure is minimally invasive and requires no general anesthesia. 

3.Is Evlt dangerous? 

EVLT is safe and effective,2-4 especially in terms of faster recovery.
